Where these questions come from

Everything a study tool says about itself should be checkable. This is what is in the bank, how it got there, and what is wrong with it.

Who writes it

Every question here is original and written for this app. Nothing is copied from CompTIA, from a commercial question bank, or from anyone else's material. We do not have access to real exam items and would not use them if we did.

No certified professional has reviewed this bank. It is written carefully against CompTIA's published SY0-701 objectives and checked automatically, but it has not been signed off by anyone holding the certification. Treat it as practice, not as an authority, and check anything that surprises you against the objectives themselves.

How it is produced

The bank holds 561 questions. 104 were written by hand, one at a time. The other 457 were drafted with the help of a language model against a specific objective, then put through the same automated checks as everything else and edited where they failed. We are telling you this because you cannot see it from the outside and you are entitled to weigh it.

What that means in practice: a generated question is not hand-verified by a human expert. It is checked for structure, for internal consistency, and against the blueprint. It is not checked by someone who has sat the exam.

The mix is 441 single-answer, 62 select-all, 34 matching and 24 ordering questions. The matching and ordering items are our own format. CompTIA's performance-based questions put you in a simulated environment, and we do not simulate anything, so we do not call ours PBQs.

What is checked automatically

The build fails, and nothing ships, if any of these break:

  • The five domain names and weights must match CompTIA's published SY0-701 blueprint exactly, every question must carry a real objective code, and all 28 objectives must have questions.
  • No explanation may contradict its own answer key. Twelve questions once told students the option the app had just marked correct was wrong, and a positional check could not see it.
  • The correct answer must not cluster in one position, so the bank cannot be beaten by always picking B.
  • Topics from the retired SY0-601 exam must not appear.
  • Every acronym on CompTIA's official appendix must be in the reference.

What is wrong with it

These are the limitations we know about. They are here because a tool that lists none is not being honest.

  • The answer is often the longest option. Measured across the whole bank, a student who reads nothing and always clicks the longest choice scores about 41%, against 25% for guessing. That is a flaw in our writing, not a study tip: it means some questions can be answered without understanding them, and it inflates the accuracy you see here. We are fixing it by thickening the wrong options, and the build holds the number from rising.
  • Question density does not follow the blueprint. Every objective is covered, but the larger objectives are not covered proportionally to how much of the exam they represent.
  • The 83% benchmark is ours, not CompTIA's. The real exam is scored 100 to 900 with a pass at 750, and CompTIA does not publish how raw answers map onto that scale. No percentage can be converted from it. Ours is a deliberately demanding practice target and nothing more.
  • It is one bank, and it is small. 561 questions is not enough to prepare on alone.

The reference

327 acronyms, 41 ports and protocols, 189 glossary terms and 65flashcards. The acronym list is kept against CompTIA's own appendix rather than curated by feel, and a test fails if an official entry goes missing.
