About the role
- We are seeking an experienced tax professional with a legal background to provide coverage with respect to tax structuring/planning, tax controversy, and the tax aspects of product launches and M&A transactions in the United States. The role will partner closely with business, legal, accounting, and operations teams across a broad range of business and operational activities.
- Review and revise the tax provisions in legal documentation, including transactional agreements, terms of services for product launches, and contracts with third parties.
- Conduct tax research and advice on tax structuring and planning matters.
- Where applicable, manage US federal tax audits and draft responses related thereto.
- Provide transactional support from a tax perspective, including tax due diligence and modeling, for M&A transactions in the United States.
- Work closely with business and operations teams and provide tax assessments/solutions to product launches and similar business matters in the United States.
- Serve as the point person and assist other tax team members with respect to tax research and analyses in Subchapters C and K.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD).
- At least 5 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility at a law firm and/or the M&A group/national office of a major public accounting firm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong tax technical skills in Subchapter C and US international tax; meaningful experience in Subchapter K.
- Excellent tax research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
- Ability to balance technical tax requirements with commercial objectives and provide practical, business-oriented advice in complex situations.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining a clear and commercial view of the larger picture.
