Overview

Ensures the financial integrity of the Congenital Heart Center Clinic by facilitating established financial processes that enable and expedite the billing and collection of professional services. This includes: entering charges; applying coding/billing rules; verify payer coverage guidelines for physician orders; maximizing collections; verifying insurance; obtaining authorizations for services; reviewing patient account detail; and, financial counseling of patients. Accountable for resolution of front end edits, rejections and information requests to achieve Congenital Heart Center clinic goals. This position interacts directly with internal and external customers of the clinic.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of business, financial, or physician practice experience required, preferably in patient accounts, billing, or collections.
  • Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred.
  • Experience with the EPIC system preferred.
  • A four-year degree may substitute for two years of required financial or physician office experience.
  • An associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for one year of required experience.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to professionally collect payments and provide financial counseling to patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.
