About the Job

The Raw Materials Analyst will develop and implement strategies for assigned categories with a focus on reducing organizational expenditure, improving savings opportunities, and enhancing relationships with business partners and suppliers. As a key contributor in our Procurement organization, you’ll negotiate value-driven agreements, drive supplier performance, and lead major projects – from running RFPs and selecting top-tier suppliers to developing implementation plans and ensuring policy compliance. In this high impact role, you will manage the USCA Chemical Distribution category. The location is in our General Office in downtown Pittsburgh and requires this you to work under a hybrid schedule, Monday through Thursday in the office with Friday being a work from home day. The Raw Materials Analyst will report to Sr Manager of Raw Materials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for the regional distribution procurement strategy, working directly with Functional stakeholders and Procurement team within the USCA region and, where applicable, between the regions (USCA, LAN, LAS) to drive and influence best practices
  • Prepare annual category plans that align with regional requirements.
  • Develop regional strategic sourcing projects (where applicable) for critical categories using the strategic sourcing process.
  • Identify and implement solutions to drive incremental cost reductions and cost avoidance opportunities through category knowledge and by researching and understanding industry trends at the regional and global level.
  • Work closely with the relevant Functional teams and the Local Buyers in the region and each country to assess, bid, optimize, and implement projects that align with key strategic roadmaps.
  • Develop and communicate updates with leadership to review critical suppliers, upcoming projects, and an understanding of forward business needs.
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Business Units, Functional Teams, and Procurement partners to understand requirements and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilize various purchasing electronic tools to analyze spend under management and submit RFIs, RFPs, Reverse Auctions to strategically source suppliers.
  • Continually evaluate supplier performance with a global viewpoint to identify opportunities for cost savings and improvements. Implement performance management of critical suppliers.
  • Ensure the Procurement function is carried out in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Foster and utilize world class purchasing practices that comply with all PPG’s Global Procurement Policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in establishing contracts, monitoring performance and issue resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and project management.
