The Valuation Services Supervisor will play a highly visible role on RSM’s Valuation Services consulting team, taking substantial responsibility for complex business valuation engagements across financial reporting, tax reporting, transactions, strategic planning, and other advisory purposes. This position is designed for an accomplished valuation professional who is ready to deepen technical expertise, lead meaningful client work, mentor developing talent, and contribute to the continued growth of a nationally recognized valuation practice.
Our business valuation team provides sophisticated valuation analyses of business enterprises, intellectual property, intangible assets, common and preferred equity, partnership interests, private debt instruments, complex securities, etc. These services support clients through mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; taxation planning and compliance; financial reporting; reorganization; audit supportand strategic decision-making. Team members are expected to bring strong technical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, practical insights for clients and engagement teams.
The Supervisor will work closely with senior professionals and practice leaders on engagement execution, client relationship development, process improvement, talent development, and select business development initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to lead challenging assignments, build a strong internal and external network, and contribute directly to the future direction of the practice.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related area of study
- 3-5+ years of progressive business valuation experience, preferably within a national, global, or highly regarded advisory firm environment
- Completed or meaningful progress toward a professional designation such as ASA, ABV, CPA, or, CVA, or a related credential
- Strong understanding of capital markets and core valuation methodologies including income, market, and cost approaches
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and emerging productivity tools such as Copilot
- Excellent financial modeling, technical writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently
- Demonstrated capability leveraging automation, data analytics, and generative AI tools to enhance quality, efficiency, and insight generation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, exercise professional judgment, and contribute effectively in a high-performing, team-oriented environment
- Ability to travel as needed to support client service, team collaboration, and practice development priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Well-rounded experience performing valuations for financial reporting, tax reporting, transaction advisory, and audit support purposes, including well-rounded experience with business combinations, impairment analyses, stock-based compensation, portfolio valuations, and complex investment positions
- Experience overseeing multiple business valuation and audit support engagements simultaneously, including coordinating workstreams, reviewing analyses, and managing engagement economics
- Advanced degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, a related field, or an advanced valuation finance credential
- Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-accountability team culture
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with client management, lead thoughtful information-gathering discussions, analyze financial and operational data, identify key value drivers, and develop supportable conclusions
- Desire to contribute to intellectual capital, process innovation, recruiting, training, and other practice-building initiatives
- Desire to Ability to cultivate and maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleagues, clients, referral sources, and other key stakeholders
Compensation Range: $85,100 - $161,700
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
