In this pivotal role, you will orchestrate the creation of next-generation touch and force sensing technologies, shaping the technical landscape across Apple’s product portfolio to deliver an industry-leading user experience. You will lead the development and integration of advanced sensing systems, collaborating closely with world-class suppliers and multi-functional teams across Apple.
As an Engineering Program Manager, you will drive the full lifecycle of sensing systems and features—from concept to specification, characterization to integration, and validation at both module and system levels. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary bridge for cross-functional communication and along with the engineering manager be the face of the program. Key Responsibilities
Lead and drive alignment/communications between multi-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, process, reliability, software, and firmware engineering Define the program plan/schedule, manage program execution and inter-dependencies, and proactively adapt and communicate as new challenges emerge Deliver executive communication/presentations and drive the decision-making process Drive engineering design by leading failure analysis activities, performance validation requirements and testing, and design release cadence for electrical and mechanical components Manage engineering development builds, working with process teams, operations partners, and suppliers/vendors to create new sensing subsystems Identify and resolve conflicts, both technical and interpersonal Push for excellence and continuous improvement: offer best practices, implement process changes, and seek out efficiencies to make our design methodology better
Minimum Qualifications
BS in STEM field (e.g. EE, ME, Physics, etc.) and +3 years relevant experience Product development, engineering, or program management experience shipping semiconductors, sensing technologies, or hardware systems in any field Curiosity about and familiarity with AI tools—with interest to apply them to improve engineering and program workflows Ability and willingness to travel internationally (typically once per year; accommodations available as needed)
Preferred Qualifications
Curiosity and action oriented mindset Masters in EE or Physics Experience in consumer electronics Knowledge of self and mutual capacitive touch sensing Knowledge of strain and capacitive based force sensing Experience using AI agents to automate complex design and validation processes Ability to navigate ambiguity
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,600 and $263,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
