About the role
Royal Abstract is seeking a Junior/Associate Title Officer & Underwriting Counsel to join our growing commercial title team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent or soon-to-be law school graduate who is interested in commercial real estate, title insurance, and transactional law.
In this role, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced attorneys and title professionals while learning how to analyze title, resolve complex ownership issues, and support sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. As your experience grows, you will progressively take on greater responsibility and develop into an independent Title Officer.
No prior title insurance experience is required. We're looking for a motivated, analytical individual who is eager to learn and build a long-term career in commercial real estate.
Responsibilities
- Review title searches, commitments, surveys, and related documents for commercial real estate transactions
- Analyze title reports and identify defects, encumbrances, liens, easements, and other title issues requiring resolution
- Assist with identifying and resolving title defects, liens, easements, and ownership issues
- Collaborate with lenders, attorneys, developers, underwriters, and internal teams throughout the transaction process
- Work alongside experienced attorneys and title professionals to support commercial real estate transactions
- Develop an understanding of title insurance principles, underwriting guidelines, and commercial real estate practices
- Maintain organized transaction files and ensure accuracy of documentation
- Provide responsive, professional client service while supporting multiple active transactions
Skills and Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) or expected graduation from an accredited law school
- Strong academic performance with an interest in commercial real estate, real estate law, or transactional practice
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance from experienced team members
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn
- Coursework or internship experience in real estate, commercial transactions, property law, or finance are a plus
- Experience conducting legal research and analyzing complex legal issues
- Interest in developing long-term career within the commercial title insurance industry
Pay Details
The base compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
