Job Title: Lead Analyst - Environmental & Permitting
Location: Orange, CT
Job Summary
This role oversees environmental compliance and permitting activities supporting utility operations and capital projects. The position manages environmental programs, regulatory reporting, risk monitoring, and compliance obligations under applicable federal and state requirements. Working with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, project teams, and consultants, this role helps ensure permitting commitments and environmental requirements are met throughout project development and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Connecticut Siting Council applications, reporting obligations, and compliance with approval conditions.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, reports, plans, and permit applications for environmental compliance considerations.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project teams regarding permitting and compliance activities.
- Prepare and support request-for-proposal processes, including proposal and invoice review.
- Draft comments and responses related to proposed environmental regulatory or legislative changes on behalf of the company.
- Manage environmental programs including SPCC compliance, waste management, air emissions tracking, and regulatory reporting.
- Monitor spill response activities, including on-call support, incident reporting, and storm duty response responsibilities.
- Conduct compliance audits and support spoils management, protected species considerations, wildlife management, and sensitive resource requirements.
- Administer contractor and contract management activities while providing field oversight of material management and permit compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related field.
- 7+ years of experience in environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental permits and regulations.
- Experience working with contaminated environmental media, including soil and groundwater.
- Construction and/or remediation oversight field experience.
- Experience managing environmental compliance requirements for construction projects.
- Understanding of regulatory affairs and environmental compliance obligations.
- Effective technical and regulatory writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in an environmental-related field.
- Professional certifications such as PE, LEP, CHMM, or CESQP.
- RCRA and/or CDOT training.
- Knowledge of or experience with protected species, wetlands, and sensitive environmental resources.
