As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will join a highly collaborative Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team that is expanding to meet increasing patient demand. The Role
This newly created position supports the continued expansion of UVA Health's Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program. The role has evolved into a broad reconstructive and general plastic surgery opportunity, providing exposure to a diverse patient population and a wide range of clinical experiences.
Working in a day-shift, ambulatory practice with no call responsibilities, you'll develop expertise across the reconstructive surgical continuum while balancing physician collaboration with independent APP practice.
In this role, you will
- Support reconstructive plastic surgery faculty and help expand access to specialty surgical care.
- Work closely with a newly recruited microsurgery fellowship-trained surgeon joining the team.
- Manage post-operative, follow-up, and longitudinal patient care visits.
- Conduct independent patient evaluations and consultations.
- Develop and manage an independent clinic schedule as your practice grows.
- Assist with wound management, suturing, and minor procedures.
- Participate in surgical planning, documentation, and care coordination.
- Serve a diverse patient population including Patients requiring complex post-surgical follow-up care
The practice model is uniquely designed to provide approximately 50% collaborative physician support and 50% independent APP practice, allowing you to benefit from ongoing mentorship while continuing to build clinical confidence and autonomy.
A successful APP in this position will quickly become an integral member of the reconstructive surgery team, supporting multiple surgeons, independently managing post-operative care, and contributing to a service line experiencing significant growth and evolution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $124,845.00 - $178,089.60 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
