Summary
This position is located in the United States Department (USDA), Economic Research Service (ERS), Information Services Division, Web Services Branch, Kansas City, Missouri.
In this position, you will be an integral member of the Web Services Branch serving as a Quality Control Specialist ensuring content on the agency's public website is up-to-date, high quality, and adhere to web policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Duties
Help
- Serve as a senior member of the Content Management System Posting Team by scheduling, coordinating, and handling requests from across the agency to publish new and updated website content.
- Coordinate with agency staff to develop, deploy, manage, and maintain all web content, including data products, visualizations, publications, and various types of informational pages.
- Assist in the review process of web materials for clarity, communications value, sensitivity to controversial issues, and relevance to developments in the domestic and world economy.
- Conduct quality control reviews of the publishing process, ensuring all tasks (automated and manual) comply with accepted standards of quality and web-based best practices.
- Ensure web materials comply with regulations, policies, and clearance procedures to achieve maximum communication effectiveness for Economic Research Service, target audiences, and subscribers.
- Ensure web posting requests are complete and error-free, verify information for compliance with guidelines, and make sure approvals are obtained prior to publishing.
- Coordinate with the Digital Strategist and Web Managing Editor to ensure continuous improvement in web publishing processes/procedures.
- Ensure files contain complete and accurate metadata information and inform authors/content contributors regarding all discrepancies.
- Serve as the agency’s web administrator and first point of contact for inquiries from the public website.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcementincluding time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in Grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet the time in grade requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-12 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is conducting quality assurance reviews of products, services, or processes to ensure compliance; creating, updating, and publishing webpages; and using document management systems to manage records or metadata.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
