Want to help us help others? We’re hiring!

GoFundMe is the world’s most powerful community for good, dedicated to helping people help each other. By uniting individuals and nonprofits in one place, GoFundMe makes it easy and safe for people to ask for help and support causes—for themselves and each other. Together, our community has raised more than $40 billion since 2010.

Join us! The GoFundMe team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Payments organization on the Payouts team, helping us build and scale next-generation payments infrastructure capable of handling billions of dollars in transactions.

You'll serve as a Senior IC on the team responsible for ledgering money movement and getting money out to the people who need it. You'll help bring more of our core payments capabilities in-house — reducing reliance on external vendors and fintech partners for compliance and control reasons — while designing and implementing the end-to-end product lifecycle for payout solutions, from ideation to launch and iteration.

This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on solving complex problems in payments, setting architectural direction, and leading by example through hands-on contributions.

This is a hybrid position.Candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Job

  • Refine and execute GoFundMe's multi-year payments strategy to grow giving through innovative use cases, and bring more of our core payments capabilities in-house.
  • Design and implement the end-to-end product lifecycle for payout solutions, from ideation to launch and iteration.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product management, designers, and external partners to design and implement next-generation payments infrastructure for GoFundMe, creating impact in service of our customers, mission, and business.
  • Own critical technical decisions across ledgering, money movement, and disbursement, anticipating future use cases and designing to minimize the cost of future change.
  • Mentor other engineers through chat, code review, and pair programming, and advocate for improvements to the codebase, providing leadership to others within the team.
  • Lead projects from conception to completion, balancing technical trade-offs and business needs, communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders, and keeping teams aligned with project goals.

You

  • Are a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in payment systems and a track record of building and shipping impactful features. 5+ years of relevant experience in some or many of the following areas: Checkout/Payment methods, Payouts, Ledgering, Reconciliation, Interchange, KYC/Onboarding.
  • Have experience architecting services and systems using well-accepted design patterns to enable future scaling. You anticipate future use cases and make design decisions that minimize the cost of future change.
  • Are skilled at leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery by balancing technical trade-offs and business needs, communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders, and ensuring teams stay aligned with project goals.
  • Have strong experience analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance problems, with expertise in application performance monitoring and log analytics tools like New Relic and Sumo Logic.

Preferred

  • Experience with Spring Boot, Kotlin, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with GraphQL and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Prior experience on a ledgering, payouts, or money-movement team at scale.
