Description

Baptist Health Medical Group (BHMG), part of Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF), the largest healthcare organization in the South Florida region, with medical practices spanning from Key West to Palm Beach, is seeking to employ a Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) Surgeon to join the Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary surgical oncology program focused on the management of complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases within one of the nation's leading integrated healthcare systems.

Full-Time Opportunity (Job ID: FY26-MIA-CC-00)

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in the surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, biliary tract, gallbladder, and upper gastrointestinal system

Responsibilities include the evaluation, diagnosis, and operative management of patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies, utilizing open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical techniques when appropriate

Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and develop individualized treatment plans informed by the latest clinical evidence and national guidelines

Ideal candidates may include early-career surgeons seeking a high-volume clinical practice focused on operative excellence and program growth

Leadership opportunities are available for experienced candidates interested in program development, multidisciplinary leadership, physician mentorship, and succession planning within the HPB service line

Qualifications

Degrees:

  • Doctor of Medicine / DO.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Osteopathic Physician.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • Medical Doctor.

Additional Qualifications

  • Staff privileges at designated BHSF hospital/location Medical or Osteopathic degree recognized by the State of Florida, current Florida medical license, current federal Drug Enforcement Agency license.
  • Board Certified or admissible in the field that they are primarily hired to perform.
  • BLS, ACLS and/or PALS certification may be required as per area of specialty.

Minimum Required Experience: 1 Year

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements include MD/DO from an accredited institution, active and unrestrictive medical license (or eligibility for licensure by start date), and satisfactory completion of all required due diligence tasks and credentialing

Candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS)

Fellowship training in Hepatobiliary Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Complex General Surgical Oncology, Abdominal Transplant Surgery, or related advanced HPB training is required
