**The Position at a Glance**

Washington University Information Security is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager II to lead high-impact cybersecurity initiatives supporting our HIPAA Security Program. This full-time, two-year term limited position offers the opportunity to partner with senior IT and business leaders on projects that reduce institutional risk and strengthen cybersecurity at one of the nation's leading research universities.

This is not an entry-level opportunity; we are seeking an accomplished IT project manager who thrives in complex organizations, solves difficult problems, and consistently turns strategy into results. Cybersecurity or HIPAA experience is helpful, but strong IT project management ability, sound judgment, and a proven record of successful delivery are more important.

In addition to leading projects, you will perform some business analysis activities by working with stakeholders to understand needs, define requirements, improve processes, document workflows, and translate business objectives into actionable plans. Success requires asking insightful questions, respectfully challenging assumptions, and creating clarity from ambiguity.

Our highly collaborative, matrixed environment requires someone who builds trusted partnerships across departments, aligns diverse stakeholders, and leads through influence rather than formal authority. Success depends as much on earning trust and maintaining alignment around shared goals as it does on project management methodology.

You will partner with cybersecurity professionals, IT leaders, healthcare stakeholders, and university leadership on initiatives involving HIPAA Security Rule compliance, enterprise risk reduction, governance, and security program maturity. These highly visible projects require confident communication with technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving toward measurable results.

This hybrid position requires in-person collaboration on the Washington University in St. Louis campus approximately one to three times per month. Candidates who can conveniently support this on-site collaboration are encouraged to apply.

Stakeholder and Customer Engagement

• Creates and executes project communication plan.
• Develops and communicates project goals, responsibilities, expectations, risks and feedback with all parties in a timely manner.
• Sets and manages customer and stakeholder expectations specific to the project.
• Communicates project direction, approach, priorities, events and status to all project resources and business sponsors.
• Builds working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments involved in the projects.
• Influences decision-making on projects; works with key stakeholders, sponsors and senior management to secure acceptance and approval of deliverables.
