The Opportunity

The Analyst provides GIS support and analysis for timberland resource information maintenance and updating for Manulife Forest Management (MFM). The team provides GIS support services to property management teams within the Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture (MIMTA).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct spat ial and descriptive resource information system upda tes with silvicultural activities, inve ntory data and other information.
  • Provide technical support (mapping and analysis) to MFM operations for the compilation of annual harvests, establishment, and other site preparation activities.
  • Conduct quality control with respect to stand information, spatial data, and silvicultural information.
  • Support the effective operational deployment of GIS tools, information collection tools, analysis tools, and applications.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
  • Assist s in advancement of MIMTA business development objectives including property transactions, timberland investment analysis, decision support tools, systems, and other strategic business o bjectives.
  • Support s conformance with SFI certification requirements and support management systems that enable the advancement of MIMTA forest stewardship commitment.
  • Support s all aspects of property data tabulation for periodic property appraisals.
  • Work closely with Operational Foresters to support GIS needs, improve communication, and enhance data quality.

What are we looking for

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in forestry or related discipline is requi red.
  • Three or more years professional experience in resource information / GIS management and anal ysis with a strong preference for forestry operations experience.
  • GIS data management, spatial analysis, and map production expertise using E sri software products including ArcPro, ArcMap, Esri Collector, and web-based workflows.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of forest operations and the information and analysis needed to support silviculture activities.
  • Knowledge in areas of f orest inventory, geographic information systems, and growth and yield systems.
  • Programming experience i n SQL Server or Python is desirable.
  • Must have strong PC technical skills.
  • Ability to handle diverse support requests with professionalism and a strong customer support mentality.
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be highly motivated and entrepreneurial.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

Salary range is expected to be between

$56,925.00 USD - $94,875.00 USD
