Overview
Completes advanced research to support the activities of more Senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Initiate, research, and recommend new investment ideas
- Understand trends in financial markets and impact on current and future investments.
- Analyze portfolio risks, exposures, and performance drivers.
- Participate in development of less experienced personnel.
- Work with client-facing colleagues to strengthen client relationships and gain new ones.
- Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions.
- Participate in regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy, performance and risk.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
- Scope of Responsibilities:
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
Strong understanding of capital markets
Current knowledge of the state of the investment management industry
Education and Experience Preferred
Advanced degree
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designation
Highly analytical
Research-driven skill set
Motivated self-starter comfortable working with senior management
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
