Reports to: Senior Manager - Operations

Location: Chicago, New York City, or Washington, D.C. (Hybrid)

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Transform client requirements into effective and efficient operational plans.
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring quality of technical work produced at your direction by analysts and consultants on projects.
  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships.
  • Perform research and quantitative analyses, conduct and coordinate studies and lead workshops.
  • Present project results to senior management.
  • Prepares proposals and pursuits, including the development of project methodologies, budgets and schedules.
  • Leverage the knowledge and expertise of Deutsche Bahn’s railway subject matter experts in our other consulting projects, where applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transportation, Business Administration or similar (M.Sc.)
  • At least 5 years of related experience with consulting for railway projects with focus on rail strategical transportation planning / urban planning / operations planning / route management etc.
  • Outstanding analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently; aptitude to quickly grasp new concepts and effectively produce results.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience in using MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for performing analyses and developing quantitative models.
  • Passion for tackling complex challenges in mobility and railway transportation sector.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency using the dynamic rail simulation tool R ail Traffic Controller (RTC)
  • Background in p assenger and/or freight rail service planning
  • Background in railroad civil engineering

Working Conditions and Travel

Successful candidate for Senior Consultant will be required to work on-site 5 days per week during on-boarding. Employees direct supervisor will determine a plan to transition hybrid work.

After on-boarding is completed, the Senior Consultant may work from your home office and/or a well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Minimal overnight travel by land and air.

We offer an annual gross salary between $118,000 and $153,000 + bonus (USD) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
