Job Description

To oversee daily maintenance operations of building, equipment and facilities including related deck and retail spaces. To manage a skilled trades team and ensures a safe, efficient and code-compliant healthcare environment. To play a critical role in supporting patient safety, regulatory compliance and the clinic’s physical infrastructure by ensuring that our facilities are maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

  • Responsible for oversight for owned and operated Plant, HVAC systems, and facility mechanical equipment.
  • Ensures the performance, condition, and reliability of all plumbing, mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and recommends changes to improve efficiencies of Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Oversees, develops, implements, and maintains written maintenance policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assures that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
  • Ensures contracted workers display and practice core values when delivering services with a customer based focus.
  • Conducts an annual assessment of facilities to identify needed improvement and repairs. Acquires training to maintain and enhance technical and service delivery of interdepartmental and external resources.
  • Ensures contractual staff embraces UAB Medicine Core Values and exhibit them daily in their interactions with customers, physicians, and employees.
  • Generates ad hoc reports as requested from supporting information and databases.
  • Develops effective team relationships within Strategic, Corporate and Support Units.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with physical plant services, office standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
  • Researches customer service principles, process improvement, methodologies, business process analyses, and project management principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree in business, science or related field, post-secondary vocation OR technical two year school diploma OR master card in plumbing or electrical OR HVAC state contractor’s license OR NICET certification OR 8 years of progressive experience in commercial or industrial maintenance required. Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred.
