Description

The Employee Skilling team, within AWS Skilling and Social Impact (SSI), delivers scalable AI fluency and cloud competency pathways designed to meet every Amazonian at their current skill level. We serve ~1.5M Amazonians — regardless of technical background — by amplifying, connecting, and scaling the learning ecosystem required to meet learners where they are. We are the connective layer between Amazonian learners, operating as the Center of Excellence (COE) for skilling at scale.

The Learning Architect is the technical learning design authority for the Employee Skilling team. This role ensures that every program we operate maintains rigor, coherence, and alignment with Amazon standards, while remaining accessible to learners across the full skill spectrum, from a finance analyst exploring AI fundamentals to a solutions architect preparing for AWS Certification.

SSI is seeking a Learning Architect who is passionate about making complex learning ecosystems simple and accessible for every learner. You'll partner across SSI and enablement teams to bring a fragmented learning landscape closer to ~1.5M Amazonians — connecting the dots between existing programs, content, and pathways so learners can easily find what they need, when they need it.

We're looking for someone who leads through influence and partnership — someone who can work across organizational boundaries to create coherent, progressive skill journeys that serve our Amazonian audience. You know how to leverage what already exists, build bridges between teams, and translate complexity into clarity for the learner.

Key job responsibilities

Pathway Architecture & Design

Design and maintain end-to-end learning pathways across AI fluency and foundational cloud skills

Architect progressive skill journeys from awareness to application to validated competency, accommodating non-technical Amazonians through experienced builders pursuing AWS Certification

Define prerequisite frameworks, entry points, and progression milestones; design blended models combining self-paced content, cohort experiences, and hands-on labs

Program Rigor & Quality Assurance

Establish learning design standards, assessment frameworks, and competency validation criteria aligned to AWS standards

Ensure SCORM/xAPI integrations and content distribution support seamless learner experiences

Content Curation & Development

Curate, sequence, and adapt existing content for internal audiences; develop original materials where gaps exist

Maintain a content map across the ecosystem, identifying gaps and evaluating external offerings for internal repositioning

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with delivery, business development, and data teams to translate demand signals into learning interventions and define meaningful outcome metrics beyond completion rates

Advise the Head of Employee Skilling on roadmap priorities based on learner data and skill gap analysis

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Evaluate emerging learning technologies and assessment approaches for applicability at scale

Iterate on pathway design based on learner feedback, outcome data, and evolving skill requirements

A day in the life

  • Review learner progression data across AI fluency and cloud pathways to identify where learners stall, drop off, or need clearer sequencing
  • Partner with SSI and enablement teams to align existing AWS content into coherent internal pathway sequences that meet learners where they are
  • Evaluate and curate third-party and externally-focused content for internal repositioning, mapping against skill gaps surfaced by data partners
  • Collaborate with delivery partners to stitch self-paced digital content, cohort-based experiences, and hands-on labs into blended learning arcs that flow for the learner
